ROBICON realized a robotic arc welding project for KJ POWER GENERATOR in cooperation with Yaskawa and Fronius.<\/p>

ROBICON<\/strong>, in cooperation with Yaskawa<\/strong> and Fronius<\/strong>, implemented a robotic arc welding project planned to be established in the factory of KJ POWER GENERATOR<\/strong>, which has been operating in the energy sector since 1996 and is one of the leading companies in the sector, in Gebze \u015eekerp\u0131nar, where it will move.<\/p>

The company, which invested in robots for the first time within the scope of the project aimed at boiling fuel tanks, saved time and cost, and contributed to occupational health and safety, thanks to ROBICON’s engineering expertise and the resource thrown with the Yaskawa Motoman AR3120 robot.<\/p>

Robicon Robotics<\/strong> and Mechatronics Systems Founder \u0130rfan S\u00f6nmez said, “We used Yaskawa and Fronius’ ComArc (Arc Sensor)” and “Touch Sense” software. This allowed us to place the weld in the same spot and accurately in variable workpieces, since it is also sealing.\u201d says.<\/p>

Mr. \u0130rfan, can you first tell us about your company and your areas of expertise in robotic automation?<\/strong><\/h3>

We, as ROBICON, are a robot integrator company that realizes turnkey projects from scratch, including design, mechanical, manufacturing, assembly, electrical, automation, robot programming. Since I am a welding graduate and our company’s area of \u200b\u200bexpertise is welding, we implement projects in this field. We are a very ambitious company, especially in heavy welding. We take care to train and select our team in this direction. In this regard, we sometimes provide support to other integrator companies at the point of commissioning in the field. Therefore, a large part of our work is welding and heavy welding. The remainder consists of palletizing, CNC feeding, material handling. Apart from these, we also try to respond to the special demands of our customers; however, we do not enter into applications such as painting, grinding, polishing. For what purpose did you implement your KJ Power Generator project?<\/strong><\/h3>

Our KJ Power Generator project came to us because of our area of \u200b\u200bexpertise. They conveyed their investment plans, first of all, we held an introductory meeting. We exchanged ideas, made a feasibility study and then presented our project. The project was aimed at boiling the fuel tank. It acts as the main chassis of both the fuel tank and the generator. The generator is collected on the chassis, there is a fuel tank in the middle. 100 percent impermeability was requested from our customer.<\/p>

What are the robots and equipment you use in the project? Can we learn the reasons why you prefer them?<\/strong><\/h3>

We have used Yaskawa’s Motoman AR3120 robot model and HM-1000 standard positioner in this project, as our expertise is Yaskawa and we have preferred the brand’s robots for about 12 years. The fact that the AR3120 model is a hollow shaft gearbox and has a reach of 3.1 meters was one of the factors we paid attention to in the selection. As a welding machine, we preferred the pulsed and water-cooled TPS 320i model of Fronius. We decided on this robot model, as it is price-oriented at the request of our customer.<\/p>

What were the factors that brought you forward in the project and enabled you to get the project?<\/strong><\/h3>

In addition to the Yaskawa robot and the Fronius welding machine, what brought us forward was the fixture solution we offered to our customer’s 12 workpieces of different sizes. Our fixture adapted to 12 different parts and we achieved cost savings with a single fixture. So we managed to get the job done with one fixture and sold the whole project at the cost of 12 fixtures. There was a leak in the test piece because it was the fuel tank weld, we dumped the weld well. They were also very satisfied. This was also a good reference for our company.<\/p>

At this point, I think software has a great importance… <\/strong><\/h3>

Yeah. We have already conveyed to our customer that there are some softwares because there are certain deviations. We used Yaskawa and Fronius’ “ComArc (Arc Sensor)” and “Touch Sense” software. Since this is also sealing, it allowed us to place the weld in the same spot and accurately in variable workpieces. For example, while parts are always stable in automotive, they do not come in desired dimensions in heavy industry. There may be deviations from 1 mm to about 5 cm. With the software, we prevented the source being thrown in the wrong places in part variability. By touching the parts surfaces with Touch Sense, we make the robot find the point where it should start first. After the first point is found, we commission ComArc. This time, by measuring the currents during welding, the robot finds where it needs to weld while welding. Even if there are deviations at this point, the robot goes out of the trajectory we taught and finds the trajectory and ensures that the source is thrown to the right place. Therefore, I can say that the software we used in the project made an important contribution in this sense.<\/p>

What gains have been\/will be made with the project?<\/strong><\/h3>

\u00a0The process in question was previously carried out manually by welders.<\/p>

Our current reference piece was boiled by a master in a period of approximately 2.5-3 hours. Because it takes a continuous position, connects the thin piece, turns it and then applies the same process again. Since we use a positioner in the robot, we have also saved positioning time. Therefore, we managed to reduce this time to 75-80 minutes. We aim to shorten this period even more over time. Considering the advantages of working with a robot, we contributed to occupational health and safety by enabling safe work thanks to the safety measures we took. We have eliminated many disadvantages, from the fatigue caused by welders to weld standing for hours, to working ergonomics.<\/p>

You will continue to stand by your customer in after-sales technical support and service\u2026<\/strong><\/h3>

\u00a0Yes, we will continue. In terms of after-sales technical support and service, besides our company’s services in this regard, Yaskawa and Fronius also support. Therefore, our customers have the opportunity to benefit from the after-sales support and service of all three companies.<\/p>

Could you tell us about your cooperation with Yaskawa, both in this project and in your previous works?<\/strong><\/h3>

If we talk about our cooperation on the basis of the KJ POWER GENERATOR project\u2026<\/p>

After we determined that the parts were variable, we needed to test the software, robot and welding machine. In this context, we conducted tests with the participation of Yaskawa and Fronius teams at Fronius’ headquarters in Istanbul. Our customer gave a positive response when she saw the weld and trial pieces, which appeared according to a certain amount of deviation after the tests we made. Thus, as a result of the tests, we have shown that the job can be done. We met with Yaskawa in 2010 before the Yaskawa Turkey office became operational. After establishing our ROBICON company in 2017, our cooperation has further developed, and we have been working actively for the last 2 years.<\/p>

What are your goals and expectations for the future? <\/strong><\/h3>

We are carrying out the delivery works of our ongoing projects. In addition to these, there are meetings and negotiations of our small-medium-large scale projects. We also manufacture special production machinery such as welding, transport and labeling. We have implemented a T\u00dcB\u0130TAK approved project.
